Commercial Solar Power Installation in the Western Cape

InPower Energy recently completed the installation of a solar energy system at a commercial property in the Western Cape, designed to significantly reduce electricity costs and promote sustainability.

Project Overview
The project aimed to enhance energy independence and reduce electricity expenses by transitioning from a grid-tied to a hybrid system. A key aspect of the installation was ensuring that critical areas of the property maintained consistent power. By integrating batteries into the system, energy generated during the day could be stored for use during the evenings or in the event of power outages.

System Size

  • Total Capacity: 207 kWp
  • Components:some text
    • 175 x 545W and 165 x 455W solar panels
    • 3 Hybrid inverters
    • 3 lithium batteries

Projected vs. Actual Energy Generation
InPower Energy projected an average monthly energy generation of 20,000 kWh, covering approximately 60% of the property's energy needs. Actual energy generation closely aligns with these projections, validating the system's effectiveness.

Summary of Savings
From January to June 2024, the installation resulted in total savings of R450,000, averaging R75,000 per month. The initial investment of R2.2 million for the hybrid system is expected to be recouped within three years, ensuring sustainable and cost-effective energy thereafter.

Energy Sustainability
This solar system significantly reduces reliance on traditional energy sources. By harnessing solar power, the property benefits from a greener environment and enjoys the advantages of a self-sufficient, sustainable energy solution.
